Located in the heart of Washington, DC on Pennsylvania Avenue, the United States Navy Memorial honors, recognizes, and celebrates the men and women of the Sea Services—Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine—past, present, and future.

From live concerts with the U.S. Navy Band to moving wreath-laying ceremonies, educational programs, and virtual speaker series with naval leadership, we bring the story of American Sailors  to life.

Featured Programs & Events

Concerts on the Avenue Experience the world-renowned U.S. Navy Band performing live on Memorial Plaza on select Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM during the summer. Enjoy patriotic music under the stars with the iconic Lone Sailor statue as your backdrop.

Movies on the Memorial Grab a blanket and join us for outdoor movie screenings on Thursday evenings during spring and fall. Watch films under the stars on our granite plaza depicting the world.

SITREP Speaker Series Engage with senior naval leaders through our online program that connects Americans worldwide with updates on strategic Navy topics and current operations.

Wreath-Laying Ceremonies Honor POW/MIA Recognition Day, Veterans Day, and other significant dates with moving commemorative ceremonies open to the public.

Chief Petty Officer Pinning Ceremonies Witness the time-honored tradition as the newest Chief Petty Officers in the National Capital Region are pinned with their anchors at this significant career milestone.

Veteran Group Visits Hear stories, recognize sacrifices, and celebrate the service of veterans who visit the Memorial to connect with their naval heritage.

If You're Attending In-Person - Plan Your Visit

  • Address: 701 Pennsylvania Ave. NW
  • Nearest Metro: The closest Metro stop is Navy Memorial–Archives (Yellow/Green Line).
  • Start Time: Wreath-Laying Ceremonies Will Start at 1:00 PM (unless otherwise noted) and last for 30-40 minutes
  • If you’re running behind (it happens!): You’re still welcome to come by. The wreath will be moved to inside for you to pay your respects, and our Visitor Center will be open until 5:00 PM
  • Inclement Weather Plan: In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside to the Arleigh and Roberta Burke Theatre, located in our Visitor Center.
